Hey friends!
As summer winds down, my heart is dreaming of one last weekend getaway—and that wanderlust found its way onto my craft desk! Today I’m sharing a whimsical shaker card that’s perfect for wishing someone safe and joyful travels.

To bring this card to life, I paired two fabulous products:
- The Concord & 9th Plane Amazing stamp set ✈️
- The Spellbinders Tunnel Clouds Etched Dies ☁️
And of course, I had to get inky with my Distress Inks and Oxides for that dreamy sunset sky!
🌅 Ink Smooshing for a Sunset Vibe
To create my colorful cloudy background, I used the ink smooshing technique:
- I applied several shades of Distress Inks and Oxides directly onto my craft mat
- Spritzed with water
- Then dragged my paper through the ink, drying between each layer.
I built up 3–4 layers on each panel to achieve that cloudy, saturated look. Highly recommend watching a few Tim Holtz demos on YouTube if you haven’t already—he always reminds me to let loose and enjoy the messy magic of ink play!

I made two backgrounds and ended up layering them to give the card that tunnel-effect dimension.
🛠️ Card Assembly Details
- I white heat-embossed the sentiment “Safe Travels to You!” and the swirly plane trail from Plane Amazing onto heat-resistant acetate from Simon Says Stamp.
- I adhered the acetate behind the pink cloud frame (cut from my top inked panel using the larger tunnel die).
- On the card base, I layered a silver cardstock panel to peek through the window.
- Then I adhered my second, smaller panel (silvery-purple in tone) cut with the smaller tunnel cloud die.
- I die cut a few clouds from silver glitter cardstock and tucked them near the bottom of the window using foam tape for added depth.
- Inside the shaker, I used Altenew’s Clear Stellar Sequins—their variety of sizes makes for the prettiest movement and sparkle!
After sealing it all together with foam tape, I had a shimmering, heartfelt send-off card ready to go.
💌 Final Thoughts
Time to renew my passport! This card feels like a hug in an envelope—hopeful, sparkly, and full of movement. Whether someone is heading off to college, flying to a wedding, or just taking a much-needed break, this is the kind of card I love sending to cheer them on their way.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
