Hey friends!
Today I’m sharing a card that blends a heartfelt sentiment with something totally new (and slightly addictive!) in my crafty journey—wax seals! 🕯️💌
I’ve been eyeing the Spellbinders Wax Seal Starter Kit for a while now, and I finally took the plunge. I used the Coral Wax Bead Mix for this project and… I’m hooked! I made a ton of wax seals during my first session. About half turned out well on the first try, and the others? Let’s just say I got some great practice in remelting and trying again. 😉 Still learning, but it’s SO satisfying—and brings such a rich, nostalgic charm to cardmaking.
It’s also incredibly relaxing, and the process feels perfectly cozy for the upcoming fall season. I have a feeling I’ll be making plenty more wax seals this fall while rooting for the Chicago Bears (and let’s be honest, the seals will probably turn out better than the score). 🐻🕯️

For this card, I wanted the wax seal to be the star—especially because the Butterfly Peony 3D wax seal from Spellbinders is stunningly intricate and gorgeous all by itself! I paired it with a soft and thoughtful sentiment from the Altenew Sweet Lilies Build-A-Garden stamp set, and used Hero Arts Arches Infinity Dies to add structure and elegance to the sentiment panel.
To tie it all together, I embossed the background with the Altenew Magnolia Dreams 3D Embossing Folder, then gently inked the raised areas using the matching Rouge ink color—this made the background more dynamic while still keeping it subtle.
The result is simple, classic, and heartfelt—perfect for when you want to send comfort and care in a tangible way. 💖

🛠️ Supplies:
- Spellbinders Wax Seal Starter Kit
- Coral Wax Bead Mix – Spellbinders
- Wax Seal: Butterfly Peony from the Sealed 3D Botanical Collection from Spellbinders
- Altenew Sweet Lilies Build-A-Garden (sentiment)
- Hero Arts Arches Infinity Dies
- Altenew Magnolia Dreams 3D Embossing Folder + matching ink
💡 Wax Seal Tips (from a beginner!):
- Make a bunch of seals at once—it helps take the pressure off perfection.
- If one doesn’t turn out, just remelt and try again!
- To make the most of your color options without investing in a ton of individual packs, take a look at the mixes. Many come with 4 colors that you can mix and match! I used a solid-colored seal on my project today, but I have marbled seals that I can’t wait to share!
- Seals add a very special handmade touch—to really allow them to stand out on your card, keep the rest of the card simple.
Have you tried wax seals yet? I’d love to hear how you like to make them and if/how you incorporate them onto your cards. Let’s chat in the comments below!
Until next time,
❤️ Denise
