From Flower Truck to Happy Mail Shaker Card | Hero Arts May 2025 Kit Inspiration

Hey friends! šŸ’Œ

You know those moments in crafting when everything just clicks and you find yourself doing a happy dance in your craft room? This was one of those times.

When I saw the adorable flower truck in the Hero Arts May 2025 Card Kit, I knew i wanted to create a shaker with it. And then—cue the lightbulb moment—I realized that an old stamp set in my stash (Hero Arts Happy Mail) paired perfectly with it. Suddenly, this little truck was transformed into a cheerful mail truck filled with love!

Creating the Colorful Heart Background šŸ’–

I started with Peony cardstock and stamped hearts from the Hero Arts Hello Stamp & Cut in a rainbow of Hero Arts Core Ink and Reactive Ink colors:

  • Blue Raspberry
  • Blue Hawaii
  • Taffy
  • Creamsicle
  • Lemon Yellow
  • Papaya

The playful, pastel rainbow of hearts became the perfect backdrop for my happy mail truck!

Crafting the Truck šŸš›

I die cut all the pieces from a mix of cardstock:

  • Truck base: Misty Moor (Altenew)
  • Tires: Evening Gray and Moon Rock (Altenew)
  • Trim: Marshland (Altenew) and Blue Lagoon (Gina K Designs)

Then came the fun part—stamping the front of the truck! I used the Happy Mail set to add the ā€œhappy mailā€ and ā€œspecial deliveryā€ stamps, blending ink for a soft ombrĆ© effect. I also added a touch of vellum in the ā€œpassengerā€ window for a little extra texture and the look of a tinted window.

Building the Shaker ✨

Instead of using foam tape (those tiny edges were a challenge!), I stacked 6 or 7 die cuts on top of each other with liquid glue to build the shaker walls. This method gave it way more stability and kept the narrow shaker edges nice and clean.

Next came the acetate window—I used Simon Says Stamp heat-resistant acetate and embossed the sentiment directly onto it. Pro tip: let your heat gun get super hot before applying it to acetate—it helps prevent warping and melts the powder fast!

Before sealing the top layer, I filled the shaker with clay heart confetti from Pretty Pink Posh. These fun, colorful hearts actually inspired the whole color palette of the card!

Final Assembly šŸ’•

With the stamped acetate in place and my layers glued together, I added the final, detailed truck layer on top. Voilà—the cutest happy mail shaker truck you’ve ever seen!

I’m planning to mail this card to a friend who’s recovering from illness—I just know it’ll bring a smile to her face. 🄰

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this post inspires you to pull out an old favorite from your stash and see it in a brand-new way. šŸ’Œ

Until next time,
ā¤ļø Denise
