I was feeling all the summer vibes when this card kit hit my mailbox—and boy, did it deliver! I had so much fun pairing the Hero Arts June 2025 Card Kit with a splash (literally!) of Solar Spray from Simon Hurley. The result? A shimmery, ocean-inspired ombré background that captures the carefree vibe of long beach days.
🌀 Background Magic
I started by inking a blue ombré blend through an older Hero Arts wave stencil on light blue cardstock. Without lifting the stencil, I spritzed over the ink with Beluga Solar Spray. It added just the right hint of shimmer—like sunlight glinting off the ocean.
☀️ Summer State of Mind
The Summer State of Mind stamp set totally stole my heart. I heat-embossed a bunch of images in white on the sand-colored cardstock, then used a white Prismacolor pencil to add soft, sandy highlights. This technique is great if you don’t love coloring, like me! And in this case, it gave the images a sand-covered and sun-weathered vibe—chef’s kiss!
Each focal point is anchored with a touch of vellum to soften the busy backgrounds without hiding them. I finished with a few layered sentiments in Nautical from Hero Arts and called them done!
My favorite sentiment? “Apres Sea” for the post-beach chill vibes. 🍷🧺
